We believe in a few things!

Wine is not just about wine! It's about people, it's about places. Let's start picking people up instead of pushing them down!

It is the belief in making pure and honest wines that sets us apart from the rest.  Our passion for changing the way we view farming and making wine is representative of the next generation of winemakers.  We are on the brink of a new mentality of farming and winemaking, where less is more and organic is considered conventional.

The Environment

All our fruit is sourced from organically farmed grapes. No synthetic fungicides, pesticides, or herbicides. We are big believers in using compost or predatory insects to out-compete unwanted bugs and prefer good old-fashioned elbow grease over machinery. And to conserve water, we source nearly half of our fruit from dry-farmed vineyards.  We decided years ago to only work with vineyards that believe in farming for the next generation. We want our kids to be able to swim in the river and jump in the mud. That will not be possible if every farm is dumping chemicals into the ground!

Our protective nature over Mother Earth does not just manifest in the vineyard!  It carries through to our winemaking techniques and even bottling supplies.  Our corks are made from a by-product of the sugar cane industry and are carbon negative! And you may have noticed that we do not use any capsules on our bottles... capsules are purely aesthetic and it's no secret that tin mining is extremely bad for the environment.

Minimalist Winemaking

We opt for a more natural approach to winemaking, forgoing the addition of grape concentrates or synthetic chemicals. Instead, we use minimal ingredients with native whole cluster fermentation of the sugars and acids and add no more than homeopathic amounts of sulfur and tartaric acid.  Our wines are fresh and vibrant and will make you do a happy dance!

Helping our fellow humans

We believe in pulling people up, not pushing them down.  Join us in donating to the following causes:

- Natural Resources Defense Council - The NRDC works to safeguard the earth - its people, its plants and animals, and the natural systems on which all life depends.

 - American Civil Liberties Union - The ACLU is a nonprofit organization founded in 1920 to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States

Going beyond donations, if you are a BIPOC or LGBTQ person and are training to get into or are already in the wine industry and are just trying to further your career, please reach out for advice or mentorship in whatever capacity you are comfortable. Be it shadowing Blair at the winery or just a phone call to wrap your head around a process, we are an open book and a safe place. Please reach out to Blair directly at blair@guthriefamilywines.com
